Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College Hosts Student Research Conference
CHARLESTON, Ill. – The annual student research conference provides students with a medium to present their work in a professional collegiate setting and promotes the effort the student body puts into their work.
“A university is not just about learning what is already known, but also about creating a new world of knowledge, art, and enterprise. This conference is a contribution to that effort,” said Richard England, dean of the honors college.
Eastern’s Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College will host their annual research and discovery conference at 12:15 p.m. on March 31.
President David Glassman of EIU and Provost Blair Lord will open the conference with a welcoming address at 12:15 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. An award ceremony for faculty research mentors will follow.
The research conference will start at 12:50 and end at 4 p.m. Poster sessions take place in the Grand Ballroom. The meeting rooms on the 3rd floor of the Martin Luther King Union will host other presentations.
Presentations featured include student research theses, senior recital pieces, and collaborative research. Students will showcase their work with oral presentations, artwork, posters, performances, and panels.
The honors college encourages students, faculty, staff, and Charleston residents to attend, ask questions, and participate in discussions.
