CHARLESTON, Ill – Eastern Illinois University students are showing off their research. The Honors College is welcoming all EIU students, faculty, and Coles County Residents to attend the Student Research Fair and Discovery Conference where undergraduate and graduate students will display and present their work.
The students’ research includes presentations of research theses, senior recital pieces, and collaborative research inside classes, roundtables, and multimedia works.
The MLK Union is holding the event on March 31 and is from 12:15 p.m. to 4 p.m.
President David Glassman and Provost Blair Lord will begin the welcome address and awards ceremony for Faculty Research Mentors at 12:15 p.m. Poster sessions are scheduled from 12:50 p.m. – 1:50 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Research presentations will be on the 3rd floor scheduled for the same times.
The event does not require a dress code.
Dean Richard England states, “The research conference gives the community a chance to celebrate student research, to show the diversity of research projects being conducted by EIU students, and to share new knowledge, creative enterprises, and discoveries.”
The Undergraduate Research Task Force is the organizer for this event.
The Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College are the primary funders and organizers for the Student Research Fair and Creative Discovery Conference. It was founded as the “Honors Programs” in 1982 to meet the needs of academically talented students. In April 2014, it was named for Sandra and Jack Pine, Eastern Illinois University alumni, in recognition of their outstanding support of their alma mater. Honors encourages intellectual and social growth.
