EIU Student Research and Discovery Conference

CHARLESTON, Ill.  – Eastern Illinois University Honors College is hosting its annually Student Research and Discovery Conference.

The conference is free to attend and is open to the community.  It takes place each year for students enrolled at Eastern to display their research from a wide variety of different academic fields.

Richard England, dean of the Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College, explains, “The research conference gives the community a chance to celebrate student research and to show the diversity of research projects being conducted by EIU students. A university is not just about learning what is already known, but also about creating a new world of knowledge, art, and enterprise. This conference is a contribution to effort.”

The conference will kickoff with an by address by Eastern Illinois’s President David Glassman and Provost Blair Lord, following an award ceremony for research faculty mentors.

After the ceremony students presentations will begin at 12:50 pm – 1:50 p.m.  in the Grand Ballroom in the MLK Union also during the same time presentations will be going on the 3rd floor in the meeting rooms.

The last session will include at 4 p.m. 

Since 1982,The Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College aims to meet the needs of academically talented students. In April 2014, the program changed its name to honor Sandra and Jack Pines two Eastern Illinois University alumni, in recognition of their passionate support of their alma mater.
