Eastern Illinois University faced a 13 percent decrease in their 2016 enrollment.

Illinois budget cuts affected other colleges such as Illinois State, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, and even Chicago schools.

Payton Blakney, a junior transfer public relations major said,

“I was a little surprised and worried if it was still going to be open as a school, and all I could tell them was that I hope so.”

As Blakney hoped, Eastern remained opened despite enrollment issues.

Blakney also said the school had many opportunities to offer for transfer students.
